Shaymen Recruit Experienced Midfielder

FC Halifax Town manager Billy Heath boosted his squad ahead of Saturday`s terrific win at Aldershot Town with the signing of experienced 31-year-old Michael Collins until the end of the 2017/18 season.

Collins, who was born in Halifax, started his career with local neighbours Huddersfield Town making 173 League appearances scoring 19 goals between 2004 and 2010.

He moved to Scunthorpe United in 2014, making seventy-nine appearances, and during his time with Glanford Park he had a loan spell with AFC Wimbledon.

The midfielder has also played for Oxford United, loan spell with York city, joined Bengaluru in 2016 and his last team was Leyton Orient.

Collins has also represented the Republic of Ireland at under-18,19 and under-21 level.

Collins, who started the 1-0 win at the EBB Stadium, is currently the under-18’s lead coach at EFL League One side Bradford City.
