Chester carektaker boss Tom Shaw says the side showed great spirit after coming back from 2-0 to narrowly lose late on 3-2 at Gateshead, writes Tom Feaheny.

There was late agony for Chester after they were defeated 3-2 away from home after a spirited response almost saw them leave with a point.

Speaking after the defeat Shaw told the club's website.

"The lads have given it everything, absolutely everything, we played really well, we fought back, we put our bodies on the line, we had that burst of energy, we did it all.

"They gave everything for me, I am really proud as a club we should be really proud of what we did."

When reflecting on the final score Shaw had this message.

"We did not deserve to lose the game based on the second-half performance, we should have won it but that is football it is a harsh lesson for us."
