But now he has started dishing out takeaways to hungry locals to help out a struggling nearby pub.
Furloughed Pearson told staff at the Fat Boar he was "bored" at home during lockdown - and asked what he could do to help.
The Wrexham establishment had just launched The Fat Boar on Tour, a food delivery service to keep them in business as the coronavirus threatened its closure with them unable to welcome guests.
Shocked owner Richard Watkin spoke to North Wales Live about the 31-year-old’s fantastic gesture, working for free to make sure the doors of the popular boozer stay open once this is all over.
"Once Shaun knew he couldn’t play anymore, he text me saying if I needed a hand with anything to just ask,” he said. “I didn’t know if he was being serious or not at first!
“A week later, I text him asking if he wanted to get out of the house and help out and he jumped at the chance so he’s started delivering the food for us.
He added: "I think people like the idea that when they get a knock on the door, it could be the captain of their local football team.
"There are a lot of footballers out there who wouldn’t do it. He’s just a normal guy who’s very approachable and willing to get stuck in. It’s very generous of him to give up his time.”
