Shariff Leaves Diamonds For Reds

Evo-Stik League South East club AFC Rushden & Diamonds have announced that striker Nabil Shariff has accepted an offer to join Alfreton Town.

Shariff joined the Diamonds in January 2016 from Daventry Town having actually started out in the sadly now defunct former Rushden & Diamonds.

After leaving Nene Park, he played for a number of clubs, including Tamworth, Banbury United, Corby Town and Stamford AFC, before signing for Daventry.

Diamonds` manager Andy Peaks told his club`s official website: “Nabil has been fantastic for the club, and we are sorry to lose him, but I can understand him wanting to play at a higher level. Alfreton made him an offer that we couldn’t match and he couldn’t refuse. I am sure I will keep in touch and wish him all the best for the future.”

Since making his debut in April 2014, Shariff has played seventy-three games for the club, including fifty-seven league games, scoring 40 goals.

This season he has scored 14 goals in eighteen appearances.
