Joint boss Anthony Johnson says finally the club have laid to rest the ghost of their August 8-1 humiliation at Blyth Spartans.
Tuesday night, he said, was the team Johnson said he and Bernard Morley wanted to produce for the fans.
The 3-1 victory took Chester up to ninth in the National League North and finally the managers can forget about their worst result in their careers.
“We are now starting to see signs of what we talked about we would bring here in the summer,” Johnson said.
“We are starting to put that Blyth Spartans result to bed now finally. We’re picking up and that was great to watch.
“We really rate Kidderminster as a team - they are the benchmark as a club of where we want to be.
“We watched them back against York, they demolished them really. We knew how hard this was going to be but the way we went at them was fantastic.
“The players’ work rate was phenomenal. They are really starting to take the information we’re giving them on board.”
Johnson added: “I can’t believe how many chance we created. We talked about playing on the front foot and it was so pleasing.
“They came here to play and we knew that would create gaps and we exploited that. We kept our shape and we have set a benchmark.”
