Saunders Proud Of Stones First-Half

Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders says their elimination from the FA Cup left him with mixed emotions.

Going in 1-0 up at the break after leading at MK Dons, Maidstone would lose the game 4-1 and leave the competition at the 2nd round, writes Tom Feaheny.

"First-half we were a credit to the football club, we were on top in spells and just didn't take the chances, we thought it might come back and haunt us, second-half we just didn't start it as well as we could have," Saunders said.

"I'd like to think the fans are proud of the way we started and the effort we showed, conceding when we did gave them the boost they needed

"The game plan worked in the opening of it, they upped a gear and we needed to ride the storm but we conceded a couple of goals we could have prevented."

Maidstone now focus their attention back to the National League, with Saunders knowing there is plenty to look at.

"We have got elements we need to work on, we have conceded 12 in 3, we are in a good place though, we've had a little blip."
