Saunders Has Mixed Emotions But Stones Stay Up

Maidstone United boss Jay Saunders says guaranteeing survival was a good feeling, while he knows this season has seen plenty of ups and downs.

Their Vanarama National League status was confirmed thanks to a victory at Chester, writes Tom Feaheny.

With plenty of away fans there, it was a good day for the side who celebrated afterwards, knowing they won't end up in the bottom four places.

"It is mixed emotions, but it is a good win, it wasn't our best performance, it took us a bit of time to adjust to it," Saunders told the club's website.

"We made life hard for ourselves and that has been the story of the season really."

Now is a time for reflection for Saunders who had this to say on how the season has gone.

"I felt some of the games we lost, we played well and just didn't get the results we deserved.

"There have been lows, it was tough but I feel we have all learnt from it."
