The Stones bounced back to see off Woking 3-1 at the Gallagher Stadium, maintaining their unbeaten home run.
The impressive Zavon Hines gave Maidstone the lead in the first-half and then former Woking striker Delano Sam-Yorke netted his first goal of the season in the 67th minute.
Joe Ward pulled one back for the Cards moments later but Joe Pigott quickly restored Maidstone's two-goal lead.
Saunders needed a reaction from his side, following that gruelling trip to Hartlepool, and he's pleased that he got that: "Off the back of last week's result it was important we got back to winning ways, especially at home.
"I'm pleased for Delano and Joe. At half-time I was a bit critical of them as we need to be more clinical in the final third. We got in their box a lot of times and didn't finish them off. All in all it was a pleasing three points.
"We had one of those game last week where four or five players were off it. All you can ask for is a response and in the week their attitude was spot on. We asked them to do certain things today that I thought could hurt Woking and at crucial times we got the goals that mattered."
