Saturday Preview: Vanarama National League North

The only unbeaten National League North side Brackley Town face an away trip to third placed Salford City, there is just a point between the two teams with Kevin Wilkin's side nine games without a loss, the Ammies are now on an eight game run unbeaten, they defeated Harrogate Town during mid-week, writes Tom Feaheny.

Speaking of Harrogate Town they will look to get back to winning ways after their narrow loss, they remain unbeaten away from home, Jake Wright was on the bench for the side after joining on loan from Sheffield United and he could start, they next face AFC Telford United who in their last five games have won one then lost one, their last result saw them beat Nuneaton Town 2-0.

There is guaranteed to be a good crowd at Bootham Crescent as York City face Stockport County, both sides gained an impressive win during mid-week with Stockport scoring six at home while the Minstermen got back to winning ways with a 4-2 victory in the North-East.

Alan Lewer's Southport side suffered a heavy loss away from home in their second defeat of the season, they next host Kidderminster Harriers who conceded late to draw 2-2, they currently are 15th in the table but are just three points off a play-off place.

It has been a good run for Bradford Park Avenue who made it five unbeaten and climbed to tenth in the process, they take on Nuneaton Town at the Horsfall Stadium with Tommy Wright's sitting in 18th with no win in their last three games, although two of those results were draws.

Alfreton Town sit in 11th after making it three games without loss, they defeated Leamington 3-2 away from home they are up against Gainsborough Trinity have had more bad luck on the injury front with Jonathan Williams picking up a lot time injury along with Chris Salt from a few weeks earlier, they take lost mid-week and are 19th in the table.

There are just two points between Curzon Ashton and FC United of Manchester who will both be aiming to get a win to start a potential run of results that will see them climb the table.

It is now five games without a win for Darlington, with manager Martin Gray saying his side need to be realistic and know that they can get through this run of matches, they host Leamington were again involved in a tight loss, that Paul Holleran said shows how near the team are to climbing the table, they are currently 2nd bottom in the league.

North Ferriby United remain bottom of the table after being defeated late on, they are on five points from their opening nine games, Matt Jansen says he has found the formation and tactic that works for Chorley and since saying that they have won their past two games and are currently on a four game unbeaten run.

Ninth place Tamworth are currently on 14 points and are on three games unbeaten, with Andy Morrell seeing his gain a point against the top of the table side Brackley away from home meanwhile Spennymoor Town gained praise from York boss Gary Mills after their defeat at home, Town remain fifth in the table, that was only their second loss of the season.

And Blyth Spartans made it back to back wins, Dan Maguire has continued his impressive run from last season in a new league with six goals scored so far, they take on Boston United who are three games unbeaten after they gained a late home victory in added time during mid-week.
