Saturday Preview: Vanarama National League North

Matchday eight takes place this Saturday with the two unbeaten sides in the league facing each other

The two unbeaten teams in the Vanarama National League North face each other at the CNG Stadium, as top of the table Harrogate Town face Brackley Town, with goal difference separating the two sides, Simon Weaver's side are in their first season full-time and it is working fine for them, while Kevin Wilkin's summer signings have had the desired effect, writes Tom Feaheny.

Nuneaton Town were moments away from back to back wins but conceded late away to Boston United on Bank Holiday Monday they face Alfreton Town who have been boosted by the signing of defender Cieron Keane.

Two teams currently with nine points face each in AFC Telford United and Blyth Spartans, despite having the same amount of points in their last five games, when one of the teams have lost the other has won and vice versa.

14th placed Kidderminster Harriers have three wins from their last five matches and have nine points on the board they take on Boston United who are winless from their last three games but gained a late draw in their previous game

The unbeaten run for Southport ended on Bank Holiday Monday as they lost away from home, they are still unbeaten at the Merseyrail Community Stadium they have also boosted their squad with Christopher Merrie joining on loan from Wigan Athletic, they take on Darlington who are just two points behind them in the table after they gained a point in a North-East derby on Monday.

Spennymoor Town have had an impressive first month in the Vanarama National League North and currently have lost just once, they left facing two of the sides fighting for promotion with two credible draws as well, speaking of good results Gainsborough Trinity gained a valuable three points on Bank Holiday Monday, with Dave Frecklington hoping it starts a winning run.

Chorley have drawn their last two matches and sit in the relegation places they take on York City who lost for the first time since the opening day of the season, Gary Mills's side are unbeaten this season away from home.

Curzon Ashton have now lost their last three matches and have seven points from as many games going into the match against Salford City who have not tasted defeat since the opening day of the season, they sit third, just three points off top spot.

FC United Of Manchester on the back of two wins in a row including a 2-0 victory at Bootham Crescent on Monday, they take on Leamington who sit bottom of the table and have just a single win from their opening seven games.

Stockport County who sit ninth in the table take on the side who are just a place behind them on goal difference in Bradford Park Avenue, three games unbeaten has seen Mark Bower's side rise up the table, they will hope that can continue.

North Ferriby United are second bottom in the table after their two unbeaten game run ended with defeat at Gainsborough Trinity, Steve Housham's side will be hoping they can pick up their first home win of the season, they take on Andy Morrell's Tamworth who have three wins from their last four matches.
