Saturday Preview: Vanarama National League

By David Richardson

Matchday 18 in the Vanarama National League is almost here, let's take a look at what's in store this week...

New leaders Dover Atheltic are the long trip north to face Gateshead. The Whites moved top after Ryan Bird's brace helped dispatch Woking while the Heed won at Leyton Orient thanks to Jordan Burrow's double.

Anthony Limbrick's Woking have lost their last two and will want to get back on track at home to Guiseley as Orient head to another wounded side in Wrexham, whose 11-game run was ended in mid-week.

AFC Fylde were the side to beat Dean Keates' men and now they travel to a Solihull Moors side that won for the first time in the league under Richard Money on Tuesday.

It was Eastleigh they beat and their manager Richard Hill was left furious with the Spitfires performance.

He'll want a reaction at Macclesfield Town although the Silkmen themselves will be aiming to bounce back after being knocked off top spot following defeat at Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Daggers are on the road at Maidenhead United while Ebbsfleet United head to fourth-placed Sutton United.

Chester threw away a two-goal lead on Tuesday only to win the 94th minute against Barrow. Marcus Bignot's side head south on Saturday to Maidstone United, who moved into tenth.

Gary Waddock's Aldershot Town look to extend their four-game unbeaten run at Barrow, who have appointed Adrian Pennock as their new manager.

Tranmere Rovers host a FC Halifax Town side that haven't won in their last six in all competitions.

Torquay United have taken four points from their last two games, enough to move off the foot of the table and now they welcome Hartlepool United to Plainmoor.

Last but not least, Bromley visit Boreham Wood, who aim to continue their five-game unbeaten run.
