Saturday Preview: Vanarama National League

By David Richardson

Match day three in the Vanarama National League is drawing closer! There's already been plenty of thrills and spills, and this weekend looks to be the most exciting yet!

Aldershot Town will look to make it three wins from three as they take on Guiseley at home. It's been the perfect start for Gary Waddock's Shots, they're one of two sides along with Dagenham and Redbridge to have a 100% record.

The Daggers travel to the south coast to play Eastleigh, who are another side going well, having taken four points from their two games.

Maidenhead United and Hartlepool United are the second game to be featured LIVE on BT Sport this season - Saturday's fixture kicks off at an earlier time of 12.30pm.

Pools picked up their first point at Macclesfield Town while the Magpies suffered a rare home defeat to Wrexham in mid-week. Dean Keates said he needed a response from his players after an opening day loss, and he got that at Maidenhead. His side travel to Dover Athletic.

Chester took a point at home on Tuesday and they go again at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium against FC Halifax Town, who also drew against Barrow. It hasn't been the best of starts for Paul Cox's Bluebirds, having taken just one point so far, but they're set to host Woking.

Micky Mellon's Tranmere Rovers have made a solid start, picking up four points so far after a home win against Woking. Rovers host Sutton United, who lost to a single goal at Eastleigh in mid-week.

Newly promoted Ebbsfleet United are also on four points, and they will be visited by last season's National League North champions AFC Fylde.

Gateshead marked their first home game with a win and now they host Torquay United. Kevin Nicholson's men lost a thriller at Aldershot on Tuesday but he says he's pleased with what he's seeing from his players.

Bromley claimed the Kent bragging rights on Tuesday with an impressive win at Dover, to move their tally to four points. They make the long trip to Macclesfield Town, who are on the same amount.

A draw and a defeat is Boreham Wood's record so far. Solihull Moors are the visitors to Meadow Park this weekend, having lost their season opener on Tuesday at Leyton Orient. Orient hope for back-to-back home wins against Maidstone United, fresh from their Kent derby defeat to Ebbsfleet.
