Saturday Preview: The Vanarama National League

By David Richardson

Match day nine is right around the corner and there's a full set of exciting National League action to come! Let's take a look at what's in store...

League leaders Dagenham and Redbridge head to improving Hartlepool United, who have claimed back-to-back wins. The Pools will be with out striker Jake Cassidy, though, who faces two months on the sidelines due to injury.

Hot on Dagenham's tail is Leyton Orient. They are also away from home with a trip to Luke Gerrard's Boreham Wood, with the home side aiming to break their league attendance record. Orient striker Macauley Bonne will hope to continue his good run of form after scoring a hat-trick last week.

At the opposite end of the table, Chester begin life without manager Jon McCarthy, who was sacked on Wednesday, at home to unbeaten Ebbsfleet United while new Guiseley boss Paul Cox takes charge of his first game at Nethermoor Park against Eastleigh.

Rock bottom Torquay United are still on the hunt for a new manager and they're at home to third-placed Wrexham, who have won their last three games.

Aldershot Town welcome Dover Athletic to the EBB Stadium as fifth take on sixth while seventh-placed Maidenhead United visit eight-placed FC Halifax Town.

AFC Fylde's three-game unbeaten run came to an end last week - they aim to get back on track at home to Neil Smith's Bromley, who have lost their last three.

Back-to-back wins for Woking has lifted them up into ninth and they're on the road to lowly Maidstone United.

Early pacesetters Sutton United hope to get back to winning ways at Gander Green Lane against Gateshead, who are yet to win on the road.

After a defeat on BT Sport last week, Tranmere Rovers will hope to kick start their season at home to Barrow. Rovers boss Micky Mellon knows that they should be in a better position than they are.

Third from bottom Solihull Moors will want to build on their mid-week win over Chester, they're at home again as Macclesfield Town head down south.
