Sandgrounders Take Young Seasider On Loan

Southport have signed defender Caleb Richards on a month`s loan from SkyBet League One neighbours Blackpool.
Last season`s youth team captain and left-back, Richards signed his first professional contract with Blackpool last May.
The defender, 19, made his first competitive start for the club on November 1st, as the Seasiders recorded a 4-1 victory against Middlesbrough's under-21s in the Checkatrade Trophy.
Playing in the unfamiliar position of right-back, his performance was so good that he was one of five players shortlisted to win the Checkatrade Trophy player of the round award.
This won`t be Richards` first venture into non-League football, however, as he had a `work experience` loan with Evo-Stik League Premier side Marine AFC in 2013/14 and was more recently on loan with the Mariners` league rivals Warrington Town.
