Growing up as a Magpies fan, Alan Devonshire’s number two hopes to become a manager in his own right.
He has written an open letter and says it won’t be the last time they see him at York Road.
"The time has come for me to leave the club, a decision that I do not take lightly but one I feel is right for me to take my next step and progress into management,” he said.
“I want to say farewell but it certainly won’t be goodbye.....I will still be around and will attend as many games as possible.
“From the little boy sitting on the dugout roof as a Maidenhead fan to the assistant sharing the dugout area with the legend that is Alan Devonshire, it has been an incredible decade that I have spent in youth and first team management at this club.
“The love and emotion the fans have shown me during that time is nothing short of remarkable. On a personal level I have had many ups and downs over this period, but Maidenhead have always been there and this is something that I will not forget.
"I started out as a naive young boy and I feel that I now leave a man.
“Maidenhead fans are different. They are the fans that sing half hour after a defeat, they are the fans that are at their loudest when you need them to help you though difficult periods in the game, they are the fans that out sing the home support when trailing 7-0.
“If I was to choose one highlight it would be winning the National League South, what a surreal experience and one that will stay with me and I’m sure all the fans forever.”
