Salford’s Players Are ‘Brave To Get Back On Track’

Graham Alexander says it has taken courage for his players to respond to their terrible recent run.

Salford City’s 2-0 win over Sutton United on Tuesday night was their second victory in a row.

It has brought an end to a poor start to 2019, where the club lost their previous three matches and had won only once since defeating Leyton Orient on January 5.

Alexander hopes the last two results have put the club back in title contention.

He says they have been brave to bounce back and told the club’s video service they were well worth the win.

“It’s a hard fought and welcome three points for us to follow on from Saturday’s game,” he said.

“We played the right way from minute one against a good side who test you in different ways.

“I’m delighted with another clean sheet, which the whole team contributed to. We did a lot of the so-called ugly stuff as well.

“I’m delighted for the players. The ones who have been in the team consistently have had a tough time of it recently.

“They have shown a lot of courage to come back like they have in the last couple of games.

“To follow up Saturday’s performance three days later is every credit to their professionalism.”
