Saints Vow To Come Back Stronger Than Ever After Blaze

Brackley Town’s board of directors have provided an update after their ground was hit by fire.

A blaze in the early hours of Thursday morning gutted the National League North club.

The Saints have thanked the football community for their kind words of support and have vowed to rebuild as the club prepare for the new season.

“Yesterday was a traumatic day for the club as fire tore through the clubhouse, bar area and other rooms. It was a shock and a sadness to see much of the club’s home go this way,” a statement read.

“The fire officers who attended came from Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire and did a really professional job including staying on to supervise the site with walls potentially unsafe.

“As we begin to take stock, first there is relief that nobody has been hurt. Material damage can be replaced and buildings re-built.

“We want to thank the many fellow football clubs around the country who have sent messages and offered support and especially the clubs, large and small, from our local area. Until you find yourself in this situation you don’t appreciate how much these messages mean.

“While the damage is significant, thankfully the changing rooms were untouched and so that should mean there need be no disruption to the football team regarding preparations for training and matches.

“As in life itself, football can deal highs and lows. We will not allow it to become a low point for long.

“The values of the club and belief we all have in each other will take us through this set-back and ultimately leave the club stronger.”
