Saints Tributes Paid On The New Clive Churchhouse Stand

St Albans City paid a fitting tribute to tragic support Clive Churchhouse before Saturday's National League South match with Gloucester City.

A plaque commemorating his many years of support and commitment was unveiled at Clarence Park as a terrace at the ground was re-named in his honour. Watch Match Highlights Here.

The 71 year old died hours before the Saints were to play Luton Town in a pre season friendly in July. He passed away after an accident at the club.

Lawrence Levy, who knew Churchhouse well, was joined by members of the loyal fan and volunteer's family on the newly named stand and addressed the crowd.

He said: “It was a fitting tribute to a man who gave so much to this football club.”

Sylvia Nicoll, the sister of the lifelong fan, added: “It was very good, and as far as it could be, was enjoyable.

“We were celebrating him, not mourning him, so we could not be too sombre.

"I think the club did him proud."
