Rusk Makes Stockport Arrival As County Announce New Boss

Stockport County have acted swiftly to appoint Simon Rusk as the club’s new manager on a three-and-a-half year deal.

The former Brighton & Hove Albion youth development coach replaces long-serving Jim Gannon in the Edgeley Park dugout, following his departure last week.

Mark McGhee joins Rusk to take up the role of Assistant Manager alongside remaining Dave Conlon.

“It’s an honour and a privilege to be the manager of such a great football club," Rusk told the club website.

"Stockport County has rich tradition and an incredibly loyal fanbase, I’m looking to continue the great work that’s been done and can reassure fans I will devote everything to the role.

“We have a fantastic squad with great infrastructure and can’t wait to start working with the players. Stockport County need to be back in the EFL and I believe together with Mark and Dave we can steer the Club to success.”

The Hatters visit Woking on Saturday in Rusk's first game in charge.

BT Sport then head to Greater Manchester the following week to broadcast County's clash with Yeovil Town.

Rusk arrives after County parted company with long-serving boss Jim Gannon last week.

They say they made the “extremely difficult decision” which was not one the club have "taken lightly".

Gannon played 480 matches for the club and then became manager over three spells.
