Rovers Injured Foursome Nearing Their Return

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon has revealed Ben Tollitt won’t have to go under the knife - and the boss reckons the former Spennymoor starlet has earned some good fortune at last.

The winger badly damaged his knee cap during his comeback match with Leyton Orient at the start of October.

He was returning to action after seven months out injured but vowed to bounce back stronger for the “small” setback.

Now Mellon says there is positive news about the player - and a number of other members of his Tranmere squad.

James Wallace, Jake Kirby and Jack Dunn are all making significant progress in their attempts to return to the field, the Prenton Park boss announced on Tuesday evening.

Mellon told the club’s official website: “James Wallace is not working with the team yet but is back running again which is positive.

“Ben had some good news yesterday that he doesn’t need an operation at this time, which is good because he could do with some luck.

“Jake Kirby is now full on training with us, he’s another one who deserves some luck, so he’s about four weeks away from a return to action, and he’s looking very impressive to be fair to him.

“And Jack Dunn is two weeks into a six or seven week lay-off with a torn hamstring.”
