Rocks Look To Take Trophy Form Into League Action

East Thurrock United boss John Coventry will be hoping his side can take their FA Trophy form into the National League South.

The Rocks stunned Aldershot Town 4-0 in the last round and claimed another National League scalp on Saturday when they beat Chester 1-0.

Coventry’s side have lost three of their last four League games to slip down to 12th in the table.

They’re still just seven points adrift of the top seven and now the boss must find a way to translate their fantastic Trophy performances to the League.

“The two Trophy performances and results stand out not only in this season but my entire time at the club,” Coventry told BBC Essex.

“Once we scored, we were always in control. Chester had to keep changing shape and personnel to try and get back into the game but we dealt with it.

“If you had to sum up a perfect performance; work-rate, effort, passion, desire and knowhow, every ingredient you need, my team showed.

“It’s well documented now that we’ve got a small squad. I’ve got six unavailable at the moment and at least four of them would have started on Saturday.

“We just have to keep plugging away and hopefully get enough points to not have to worry about league position.”
