Rocks Can Carry on Surprising Everyone

East Thurrock United’s season to remember so far is down to one thing, and that’s determination.

Manager John Coventry isn’t getting carried away from the fact his team are surprising everyone with a brilliant start to the National League South season.

They are 3rd and have won matches against Whitehawk, Poole, Braintree and Bognor.

But it’s fair to say that Monday’s victory at Dartford really caught the eye as they ended their undefeated start as they carried on their own.

Coventry is keen to keep the pressure off and tomorrow they are playing Wealdstone. He knows it will be a difficult game.

“We are a very determined team and a very determined club,” said the Rocks manager.

“It’s been a great start for us and Monday in particular was pleasing. Not many clubs will keep a clean sheet at Dartford, that’s for sure!

“But we worked so hard again, there’s no doubt pound or pound we give as much as anyone.

“We’re not letting in goals now which is pleasing. We’re keeping them out at our end and our forward players are keeping their end of the bargain.”

A game which will be “a great battle” awaits this weekend against Wealdstone, and the United manager commented that he doesn’t expect the Stones to be at the wrong end of the table for too much longer.
