Roberts Earns Silkmen Deal

After featuring in an open trial game, Vanarama National League club Macclesfield Town have announced the signing of midfielder John Roberts.

The 18-year-old has signed terms with the Silkmen after impressing during a summer trial with the club.

Roberts` signature caps off quite a few weeks for the youngster. In early July he took part in an open trial game that was run by club and after impressing the watching coaching staff he was invited to train with the first-team along with three other stand-out players from the game.

Roberts would go on to play in the pre-season friendly games with the likes of Buxton, Leek Town and Nantwich Town and a series of impressive performances have now seen him rewarded with a contract.

The midfielder, who was previously on the books of League Two Accrington Stanley, will now look to further his progression with the Silkmen over the coming months and continue his rise in to the professional game.
