Ricketts Lauds His Resilient Reds After Town Draw

Sam Ricketts was pleased with his side’s goalless draw against Harrogate and said his side could’ve easily won the game.

The Red Dragons made the journey to North Yorkshire on the back of only their second loss of the season and the response pleased the manager.

“I’m really pleased with the performance,” he told the National League’s Oli Osborn. “It’s a hard place to come but we stood up to the challenge and it was a resilient performance.

“We were playing against a side that have started the season superbly well – they were top of the league until the weekend.

“It could have been three points on another day. We imposed ourselves on the game and had two or three chances but unfortunately couldn’t convert any of them.

“I was more than pleased with the performance, it was excellent,” he added.

The result sees Wrexham drop to fourth in the league, but Ricketts said at the moment, it’s all about picking up points and constantly improving.

“All we have to do is keep improving and keep trying to win games, but we do that every week anyway.

“I see a side that’s improving and we’re much better than we were at the start of the season and we’re probably not as good as we will be after 20 games.

“It’s a real competitive league. We’ve been top, Harrogate have been top, Orient have been top, and it will be like that for some time, but we’ll keep going.”
