Ricketts Knows His Wrexham Are Ready For All-Welsh Cup Tie

Sam Ricketts sees no reason why it can’t be Wrexham who come out on top in the battle of Wales this weekend.

The National League title chasers host Newport County with national pride as well as an FA Cup third round place at stake.

The game will have added spice with BT Sport in town for the late game on Saturday and Ricketts thinks his team can put on a show.

“As a club we’re buoyant at the moment,” he said in his pre-match press conference.

“We’ve had a really good first half of the season - we’ve lost only three of 25 games and that’s a good record.

“We know it’s always very difficult against clubs in a higher league but we’re capable of winning it.

“Newport are favourites, but we’ve got a chance - we know the crowd will be right behind us and we’ve got another good performance in us.”

Newport of course know how to perform in the FA Cup.

They held Tottenham Hotspur last season in the fourth round before bowing out in a replay at Wembley.

Where next?
