Returning Allinson Praises Saints' Top Performance

Ian Allinson returned to the St Albans City dugout at just the right time to witness his side’s best performance of the season.

Allinson has missed recent games as he recovers from a hernia operation but he was back in charge for Saturday’s 3-1 success at Wealdstone.

The win takes the Saints to the brink of the play-off places and they are just three points off top spot.

Allinson’s men have been inconsistent as of late but the boss hopes the impressive showing in west London will spark an upturn in results.

“It was a really thorough, professional job today and probably the best we’ve played all season for me,” Allinson told the club’s Youtube channel.

“I have a lot of belief in these boys, we have some real quality but we need to be more consistent.”

On his recent operation and recovery, Allinson added: “It’s a little bit sore at the moment but it’s slowly getting there. It’s been a difficult period going into Christmas but hopefully by New Year I’ll be back to full strength.

“It’s been quite nice sitting there and not getting involved - it’s a lot easier than jumping around on the sidelines so maybe I should do it more often!

“My time at the club has gone so quickly. We’re only three or four months away from two years at the club and it’s great to be involved as a manager when your team puts in performances like that.”
