“That felt like the Aldershot of the past two years,” he said to Shots TV.
“We knew it was do or die for us, we knew if we lost this game we were dead.
“Now we have seven massive cup finals. If we play like we did today we have a very good chance.
“We have come out of the recent games with nothing to show for it, but we felt we needed to get that first win by any means necessary.
“But we’ve got to back it up now. Now we need to build on that on Tuesday night.
“We have been putting in performances in the past three or four games. Our day to day work has been good. But it means nothing without three points.
“Now we’ve got them and hopefully it’s the start of our recovery.”
