Ravas Super Show Helps Trinity To Vital Three Points

By Steve Whitney

The only game in the Vanarama National League North on Tuesday night saw Gainsborough Trinity record back-to-back wins to jump out of the drop zone and up to seventeenth in the table against play-off chasing Chorley at the Northolme.

However, Trinity will be extremely thankful to on-loan Derby County `keeper Henrich Ravas, who pulled off some fantastic saves to keep a clean sheet – only their fourth in the league all season.

It had been a fairly even opening to the game, with the Magpies finishing the first half the stronger and almost taking a lead into the break when Marcus Carver`s effort from wide forced an excellent save from Ravas.

And within 3 minutes of the restart, Trinity broke the deadlock when Craig King finished well after a cross by Ashley Worsfold – his second crucial strike in succession after scoring the winner against Alfreton Town last weekend.

After that it was Ravas who took centre stage, denying Matty Hughes with his feet shortly after the goal, saving superbly from Josh O`Keefe and the Slovakian twice prevented Khuis Metz from equalising, including one right at the death to keep the scoreline 1-0.
