Pugh Is Backed To Recover From His Double Leg Break

Andy Pugh has the character required to come back from his potentially season-ending injury.

That is the view of Dartford’s joint manager Jamie Coyle, who knows the club and player have work ahead of them to recover from such a terrible blow.

The striker suffered a double leg break just 13 minutes into the club’s pre-season friendly match with Colchester United.

The former Gillingham and Welling United player is now to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.

Coyle believes the 29-year-old will play again and be as good as ever.

“Clearly the first thing you think about is the player in these horrible situations,” said the joint boss, who runs the team with former Concord manager Adam Flanagan.

“He’s a great character and still has time on his side. He is still in his 20s and can come back from this - I’m certain he will.

“Andy was going to be a big player this season for Dartford but now we have got to plan for life without him.

“We can’t just go out and buy another centre-forward. We’re not flush and we have to be careful with money but we’re working very hard to try and get some extra help.”

Dartford begin their National League South campaign with a match at Bath City on August 4.
