Promotion Again? Shaymen Won't Know For A While

Billy Heath believes his will know by October if his FC Halifax Town team can possibly compete for promotion this season.

The Shaymen started their return to the Vanarama National League with a 2-0 home defeat to Aldershot Town.

Tonight, they can make up for that by getting a positive result up at Barrow the manager says.

Asked if he thinks Halifax can be up there looking for a second promotion in a row, Heath wants to return to the question a few months down the line.

“Ask me in eight or 10 games but we’ve played against one of the teams that was in the play-offs last season and we’ve more than matched them for long periods of the game,” he said.

“The players are bitterly disappointed with Saturday’s defeat but I said to them when I walked in ‘get your chins off the floor, we start again on Tuesday’.

“The problem we had was we made two bad choices and we’ve got to learn fast.”

He told the Halifax Courier that decision making needs to be better but he wasn’t upset with the performance.

“The player just need to make better choices and key moment,” Heath concluded.
