The Magpies' point tally moved onto 18 from their first 11 games after a 2-1 win over Boreham Wood on Saturday - watch match highlights here.
Maidenhead won the Vanarama National League South last season and have started their first ever campaign in Non-League's top flight brilliantly.
Sitting amongst the play-off places, two points off the top, United's fifth win against Wood was rated highly by Devonshire.
"I thought we were very good, we dominated but we're just disappointed with the goal we gave away at the end," he said.
"I think that was our best performance over 90 minutes of football. Everyone did their job. Boreham Wood are a decent side and I feel we didn't give them a sniff so I'm delighted with that.
Devonshire, who is in his second spell managing Maidenhead, said: "It's about the squad, it's one thing I haven't been able to have before - it's always been down to its bare bones. It proved last year that it helped and again this season.
"We have 18 points out of the 51, so another 33 to go. If we can get them as quickly as possible, we'll look at rejigging things if we get there early but for now that's all we're looking at.
"It's early days. I've been in this league, it's ruthless. So far we're doing ok."
