Preview: National League North And South FA Cup

The Vanarama National League North and South sides enter this seasons FA Cup at the second qualifying round with plenty of interesting ties set to take place this weekend.

The action gets underway as Kidderminster Harriers will be hoping they are not involved in an upset as they take on Deeping Rangers in a game that will be shown live on the BBC website, they take on the United Counties League Premier Division club, with John Eustace's side hoping this can help kick-start a good run in the league as they currently sit 15th, writes Tom Feaheny.

There are also several ties that see National League North sides face each other, two top of the table sides meet in Salford City against York City, in the league there are eight points between the two sides with Salford unbeaten in ten while York drew at home during mid-week that sees them in seventh.

The team the Minstermen gained a point against were Gainsborough Trinity who travel back to Spennymoor Town just a few weeks after the two sides drew 1-1 at Brewery Field, Jason Ainsley's side are currently sixth in the league and got back to winning ways during mid-week.

Just a single point separates Southport and Bradford Park Avenue ahead of this cup tie, with the Sandgrounders have lost their last three matches, while Mark Bower's Avenue are now seven games unbeaten after a Monday evening victory.

There is also Jim Gannon's Stockport County against John Flanagan Curzon Ashton, these two sides have already met once in the league as County gained a 3-0 victory in the second game of the season.

There are also three all National League South matches, there is just goal difference separating Bognor Regis Town who have lost their last three matches who take on Weston-Super-Mare who have found a bit of form in recent weeks with a three game unbeaten run.

Gloucester City and Hungerford Town take on each other, with the two sides facing each other previously just a few weeks ago as City gained a 3-2 league win at the end of August.

Steve King is back at Whitehawk and his first match is against another team who are aiming for a morale boosting victory in Oxford City, both sides are at the wrong end of the table, and will be hoping this cup win can help them going into the league campaign.

Most of the Vanarama National League North and South sides are aiming to avoid being involved in potential cup upsets there are three National League North V Evo-Stik Premier matches as AFC Telford United who have won one then lost one in recent weeks will be aiming for back to back wins as they face Barwell who are 13th in their division.

While Tamworth who are in the play-off places travel to Stafford Rangers and Stalybridge Celtic who last season were in the league are now 23rd in their new division take on Chorley who lost for the first time since mid-August during mid-week and Blyth Spartans face another side who are doing well in their league as they host Shaw Lane Association.

There is also a local derby that sees Darlington who gained their first win in the month during mid-week against top of the table Evo-Stik North side South Shields who lost for the first time in 2017 two Saturday's ago.

Handsworth Parramore are at home facing FC United of Manchester who are 21st in the table, while top of the table Harrogate Town take on another NCEL Premier side in Penistone Church.

Other matches include Kingstonian against Brackley Town, Nuneaton Town host Kings Lynn Town, Boston United are at home facing Haughmond, Alfreton Town against AFC Rushden & Diamonds and Leamington travel to Westfields who last season reached the first round of the competition.

Top of the National League South table Dartford face Bostik North League side Barking who are currently mid-table in their division.

Managerless Bath City have their first game since Gary Owers left the club to take over at Torquay United they aim to appoint someone next week they host Knaphill who have won two of their last three league matches.

Poole Town have lost their last four league games and have only picked up a point from their last five matches as they sit 20th in the National League South table, they take on Salisbury Steve Claridge's who won their last league game in the Evo-Stik South, West Division 8-0.

Chippenham Town who have suffered back to back loses will be hoping they can gain victory as they travel to Weymouth.

Other matches include Truro City hosting AFC Portchester, Wealdstone are at home against Faversham Town and Welling United take on Haringey Borough.

Havant & Waterlooville are up against Merthyr Town, St Albans City face Cambridge City and Hemel Hempstead Town are the hosts when they face Wingate & Finchley.

There is also Chelmsford City against Ramsgate, Concord Rangers take on Tunbridge Wells, Braintree Town host Royston Town, Hampton & Richmond face Potters Bar Town, Biggleswade Town are the opponents for East Thurrock United and Eastbourne Borough V Carshalton Athletic.

There is also one team competing on Sunday as North Ferriby United travel to 1874 Northwich.
