The 30-year-old, who is infamously credited with the fastest-ever red card shown in English football, returned to Chippenham after three years with National League South Bath City, where he scored 50 times in 125 appearances.
Pratt, who began his career under current Bluebirds boss Mark Collier at Swindon Supermarine, first arrived at Hardenhuish Park in 2007 and during his two years with Chippenham, he hit the headlines nationally for being sent-off just 3 seconds into a Southern League Premier Division clash at Bashley.
He moved to Basingstoke Town for three seasons and then, after a short stay with Maidenhead United, joined Bath in 2013.
Chippenham chairman Neil Blackmore told his club`s official Pitchero website: “Whilst David was on contract and I made it clear to the Wealdstone chairman that he was not for sale, they were able to get an offer to David via a third party, I am lead to believe that offer was for more than double what he is paid by Chippenham, once he was aware of the offer he no longer wanted to stay at Chippenham.
“I am sure you can understand there is never any point in forcing a player to stay against his will even if he is on contract, as you never get the best from the player and it can cause unrest in the dressing room.
“At that stage my task was to get the best deal for the club and I believe I have done that.
“Mark is now looking for a suitable replacement, and we will keep supporters updated with any developments”.
