The manager was happy with how his side kept their composure on Saturday against Bognor Regis Town at Princes Park.
They eventually ran out 3-1 winners with two goals coming in the second half. Watch Highlights Here.
It was a big improvement on their last league game - a 3-0 loss at Weston-Super-Mare that really frustrated the Princes Park boss.
It is the FA Cup next on the horizon and after hitting Needham Market for six in the last round they now face another Bostik League team in the form of Burgess Hill Town on Saturday.
But this week will be a totally different kettle of fish, the manager stressed.
Burman said: "The weekend was all about staying patient. The players didn't lose sight of that.
"We kept doing what we do and eventually got our rewards. It's all about patience and not panicking when things aren't going exactly how you want them to.
"Bognor are a good and spirited side so it was a pleasing win for a number of reasons."
The FA Cup draws on the outside look kind but Burman knows Burgess Hill have real cup pedigree.
"They beat Wealdstone from our league in the last round so we know how much of a challenge this game will be.
"Make no mistake this is going to be a very difficult one, completely different from the last round."
