Pools Don’t Fear Salford As Form Sides Locks Horns

Two fantastic unbeaten runs go on the line on Tuesday night - and Matthew Bates see no reason why Hartlepool United can’t be the ones to throw a spanner is Salford City’s works.

Pools are nine without defeat after Saturday’s gritty 2-1 win at FC Halifax Town.

Salford’s 3-1 victory over Boreham Wood means they have now only dropped two points in their past six games.

When form teams clash many suggest a stalemate is forthcoming but Bates takes his team to Manchester without fear.

“I really think we are improving in every game we play,” said the Pools boss.

“I knew that we would get better as the weeks rolled on and now I think the supporters are starting to see what we’re all about.

“The players are giving me exactly what I have asked for and they are following the game plan perfectly.

“We know what Salford City are all about. They are starting to come in to fantastic form but so are we. We’re on a really good run now.

“I think we’re starting to show everyone what we’re all about.”
