Pools' Appointment Is Getting Closer And Closer

Hartlepool United caretaker boss Craig Hignett believes the 1-0 win at Maidenhead United will be his final game in charge.

The Pools' Director of Football helped end a rotten run of seven straight defeats in Berkshire.

But he doesn’t want the job full-time - and the club are talking to the person who they hope to appoint soon.

In an interview with BBC Tees following the game, he was asked if this would be his last game in the dugout and Hignett responded: “I would think so.

"Early next week I hope we can finish what we were doing and talking to people. Then we can make a decision next week, hopefully.

"You can't say anything in football because you never know, but we'll hopefully have the new man in place for the Leamington game."

Hartlepool’s next National League fixture is at home to Havant & Waterlooville on December 22, before a trip to Gateshead on Boxing Day.
