Plenty of Player Movement at Blues

Rod Stringer, manager of Vanarama National League South club...

....Bishop`s Stortford, has announced several changes to his squad.

Last season’s managers` and players’ player-of-the-year Ashley Miller returns to the club having left the ProKit UK Stadium to join Chelmsford City in the summer.

His stay at Melbourne Stadium was brief, with Miller never playing a league game for the Clarets, but he has remained match fit by playing for Ryman League Premier Division side East Thurrock United.

Miller was a key member of the squad last season, netting 6 times for the Blues, including a brace at Sutton United as they fought back from 2-0 down to take a point.

He had a six-match spell on loan with Stortford from West Ham United back in October 2008 before re-joining the club in the summer of 2013 and has played over seventy games for the Blues.

“It’s good to have Ashley back as he will bring some experience” said Stringer. “He left for his own reasons in the summer, but only after picking up two awards last season. Dereece Vanderhyde has done well for us, but he’s been a bit up and down, and I want to bring in some competition. Ian Gayle has returned to Dagenham as we could only keep him for one more money, and I didn’t want to be in the same situation as with Matt Johnson, so I decided to bring Ashley back.”

Robbie Willmott has joined the Blues on loan from league rivals Ebbsfleet United until the end of the season.

A pacey winger who can operate on either wing or behind the front two, Willmott has proved to have an eye for goal at his previous clubs.

He has a wealth of National League experience, having played almost 300 games and scored 50 goals for the likes of Cambridge United, Luton Town and Newport.

He joined Cambridge as a scholar in 2006, featuring in the first team a year later and he played in the U’s play-off campaign in 2009, totalling over 100 games before a £50,000 fee took him to Luton Town in 2011.

He helped Luton into that season’s promotion final and he was the only Hatters player to make the Conference Team of the Season in 2010/11.

He was once again on the losing side for Luton in the following season’s promotion final and he re-joined Cambridge at the start of the 2012/13 season.

He moved on to Newport County in 2013, helping guide them to third place and eventual promotion to the Football League via the play-offs, and was almost ever-present in their first season in League Two.

Released by the Welsh club in 2015, Ebbsfleet pounced to land the player in the summer.

He has made twelve league and three cup appearances for Fleet to date.

With Corby Moore having made his debut in last week’s draw at St Albans City, Stringer has trimmed his squad with the release of three other players, as Stringer explains: “Alli Abdulahi has also left the club as he is struggling with his work commitments, and if he is going to play it needs to be closer to his home. He went to Nigeria recently and has been unavailable, which makes it tough to keep a settled side.

“I’ve also released Dymon Labone and Omer Rowe as we’ve changed our shape and the way we’re playing recently. I’d like to thank all of the players who have left and wish them all the best, but I’m trying to make changes to ensure that we are successful in 2016.”
