Play-Offs Are The Ultimate Aim For Improving Darlo

Darlington boss Tommy Wright admits he already has one eye on next season after his side picked up another big win.

The Quakers moved up to 14th in the National League North thanks to a 2-1 victory over play-off hopefuls Kidderminster Harriers.

Stephen Thompson’s last-minute goal secured Darlo’s fourth win in five games as they pulled five points clear of the relegation zone.

“Late goals really lift the place and we’ve experienced that a couple of times now,” Wright told the club’s YouTube channel.

“It sent the fans home with smiles on their faces and I was delighted because they were at their best today.

“It’s been a great day all round and we now need to take that into next Saturday. The gap is still five points (to the relegation zone) so our focus is still on what we want to do.”

Whilst a play-off push seems unlikely this season, Wright says that will be their target next term.

“Ultimately we’re aiming for the play-offs but that’s probably not going to be this season,” he added.

“Next season is going to be our season. At the minute, I just want us to win games of football and make sure we’re safe for next year.”
