Pilgrims Bring In Walker & Brogan - Wakefield Departs

Boston United have added two new players to their squad ahead of tomorrow’s home fixture against York City, while one has departed.

Right-sided defender Paul Walker has linked up with the Pilgrims from Evo-Stik League South neighbours Spalding United, while left-sided utility player Stephen Brogan has arrived from league rivals North Ferriby United.

Twenty-two-year-old Walker joined the Tulips in the summer of 2015, with former manager Pat Rayment moving quickly to snap him up after his release by Grimsby Town - this despite interest from a host of higher grade clubs.

Walker enjoyed brief loan spells with Corby Town and Harrogate Town before being released by the Mariners in May 2015.

He had a solid first season with the Tulips in 2015/16 and, having at first decided to call time on South Holland due to excessive travel from his home in North Lincs, agreed to re-sign for this term.

Twenty-nine-year-old Brogan is an experienced, strong-tackling defender whose previous clubs include Rotherham United, Stalybridge Celtic, Forest Green Rovers, Southport and Gainsborough Trinity.

In season 2012/13 Brogan made two appearances for the England C team against Belgium and Russia.

He signed for Ferriby in 2016.

Both are in contention to make their debuts against York at the weekend.

Full-back Liam Wakefield (pictured), 23, meanwhile, has left The Jakemans Stadium after making nine appearances for the Pilgrims.
