Phenix Gets First Goal Against Old Club

Salford City's Mike Phenix got his goal tally off the mark yesterday and revealed why he celebrated against his old club!

The Ammies made it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory over AFC Telford United yesterday - see match highlights here.

Jake Beesley put the away side in front after just 10 minutes and then Phenix made sure of the comfortable result, adding another late on.

After an opening day defeat at home to Darlington, Salford are now getting going, and is Phenix, who struck for the first time this season against his former club.

"We've come here and done the job," he told the club's website. "It was no where near how we can play, we know that, but we had a tough game at Chorley on Tuesday and dug out a result, and got the job done here.

"At the minute you've got Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday so we've jut got to do the right things now and prepare for Tuesday because it's going to be another tough game at home to Stockport."

And on celebrating against the club in which he played for in 2013, Phenix said: "I remember coming here last year and the fans were brilliant with me, and then they turned on me in the game! So normally I probably wouldn't have celebrated but I thought if they're turning on me then I'll make the most of the celebration."
