Peers Becomes a Buck

By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National League North club AFC Telford United have completed the signing of former Chester FC forward Tom Peers.

The 20-year-old former Chester academy product signed for the club on Thursday afternoon.

Warrington-born Peers has been with the Blues since 2010 and his prolific scoring record for the club's youth teams led former manager Neil Young to give him his first-team debut aged 17.

Peers had a productive spell on loan at 1874 Northwich in 2013/14 scoring 5 goals in seven appearances which was then followed by a move to Hednesford Town. Peers enjoyed his spell at Hednesford scoring 3 goals in nine appearances.

Peers bagged eight goals in just nine games for Marine and that prompted Steve Burr to recall him in March 2015, including him in the squad for the final seven games of last season.

Peers was delighted to sign for the club this afternoon. “AFC Telford United is a massive club with a huge fan base and I can’t wait to get started”

Peers joins the club with a few familiar faces within the squad. “I know Ben Bailey, Jack Rea & Sean Williams so it’s always nice to know a few of the lads when joining a new club, I can’t wait to meet the rest of the lads and get going with the new season”
