The soon to be 36-year-old marksman has already equalled last season's total of 16 goals for the Minstermen in all competitions this time around.
He recently struck his 200th senior career goal and now remains under contract until the summer of 2019, when City are due to take residence at their new stadium.
The former Stoke City, Hull City, Cardiff City, and Preston North End striker continues to score goals on a regular basis for City and scored his 200th senior goal in September and a recent double against Coalville Town in the Buildbase FA Trophy completed a remarkable run of 28 goals in thirty games.
He has agreed to stay until the summer of 2019 and says he will keep on playing until he can no longer contribute to the team.
