Oxford Keeping Grounded Despite Trio Of Big Wins

Mark Jones insists he won’t be getting carried away despite seeing his Oxford City side chalk up their third straight win.

Oxford saw off Chelmsford City on Saturday, following on from victories over the Clarets' fellow play-off hopefuls Hemel Hempstead and Truro City.

The three big wins have moved Oxford up to 14th in the National League South and ten points clear of the bottom three.

Their relegation fears have been eased and Jones wants his side to continue their positive run of results at FA Trophy semi-finalists Wealdstone on Saturday.

Jones told BBC Radio Oxford: “The last three games, we’ve beaten teams in and around those play-off positions and that’s a great achievement.

“I’ve got to praise the players. Any successful side has to have a solid base and the defence have been brilliant - we defended really well.

“We’ve got to enjoy this now. We’ll take it game by game and go to Wealdstone on Saturday. If we continue with the same intensity, we’ve got a chance against anybody.

“We’ll keep focusing on the process, performing well and give ourselves a good chance of winning football. We won’t get carried away but they’ve been three big wins.”
