Our Fantastic Final Four Gear Up For Huge FA Cup Weekend

By Sam Elliott

There’s four still standing tall in the FA Cup and their third round dates with destiny are almost upon us.

Maidstone United, Chesterfield, Eastleigh and Aldershot Town may not have managed to secure matches with the Premier League giants they were hoping for, but there’s one way to try and put that right!

First up to fly the flag is Maidstone United in the early Saturday slot. After the National League South side reached this stage for the first time since their reformation in 1992, manager George Elokobi wants his team to take their chance.

After blowing Barrow away, it’s Stevenage next up at the Gallagher Stadium and the manager said: "It's a momentous task for us. We have to go out and try our best and enjoy the occasion. The magic of the FA Cup has a way of writing fairytales."

Richard Hill fears Newport County will prove even harder for Eastleigh to defeat than Reading.

The Spitfires impressively sunk the former Premier League club in the second round but after a trip to south wales, the manager has seen for himself how difficult it will be - even with star striker Paul McCallum bang in form.

“I went and watched them the other night and it will be a difficult game, a harder game than Reading, a different type of game and we will have to play well,” he said.

Chesterfield have already defeated League One sides Leyton Orient and Portsmouth - and now they have to up their game to catch 2019 finalists Watford.

There will be almost 4,000 Spireites and Paul Cook’s assistant Danny Webb said: “We’re not being silly. They’ve got Premier League players on Premier League wages. If they come to the party and play well it could be a long afternoon.”

Aldershot Town have to try and put five time winners West Brom in their place on Sunday afternoon.

The Shots have beaten League Two duo Swindon Town and Stockport County already in this season's tournament, scoring 14 goals in four ties and are in the third round for the first time in a decade.
