Oswell claimed his second hat-trick of the season on Saturday as the Hatters beat high-flying Spennymoor Town 3-2 at Edgeley Park.
The National League North’s top scorer, who has netted 20 times in all competitions, knew he had to put in a performance after last week’s disappointing showing at Brackley Town - one that saw him withdrawn with 25 minutes left.
But both Oswell and the Hatters bounced back from the 3-2 defeat in Northamptonshire to record just their third win in nine league matches.
The forward told County TV: “I was disappointed with my performance last week. The gaffer took me off so I knew I needed to respond today. I’d like to think that I did!
“I was confident coming into the season but 20 goals at this stage is more than I expected. I would be happy with that at the end of the season!
“I’m loving my time here. Stockport is a massive club to play for and I’m just trying to improve every game.”
The result saw Stockport climb to ninth in the table and Oswell reckons his side will take plenty of confidence into the festive period.
“It was a big win - I think they’re the first team we’ve beaten that are above us,” he added.
“The play-offs are well in sight. We know that two or three wins can really get us back in the picture.
“We’re hoping that today can be the start of a run. They were a tough team but we played really well.”
