O’s Edinburgh Can Only Control What Is Controlable

Justin Edinburgh knew he would get the reaction he was after from his players at the weekend.

But the Leyton Orient manager isn’t interested in pretending he can control the uncontrollable.

The O’s lost top spot in the National League ten days ago when they slipped to a first defeat of the season against Sutton United.

They responded with a workmanlike yet still emphatic 2-0 win against Maidenhead United at York Street.

That away win wasn’t enough to earn them the leadership back as Salford thrashed Dover 4-1 away from home.

It not a regular situation because of the Ammies’ incredible form but Edinburgh knows there’s little they can do except keep on winning.

“We can’t do too much about not being top!” he said. “I don’t think there’s much point worrying ourselves over it.

“If we take care of ourselves then who knows what might happen. We needed to show character and we did.

“We can only concern ourselves with our performances and try to make sure we are better every week.”

They passed a mental test at the weekend according to Edinburgh.

“Maidenhead could have been a difficult one,” he added. “We lost last weekend and they did too. Both sides needed a reaction so it was dangerous, especially away from home.

“But we were gritty, we showed real toughness and now we’re looking forward to Hartlepool next weekend.”
