Orient's Record Breakers Tipped For Big Things

Justin Edinburgh says his players have done something “very special” after setting a new club record on Tuesday night.

The Leyton Orient manager was proud as the club went 13 matches unbeaten with a fantastic 5-1 victory over Braintree Town. It is now their best ever start.

It beats that of 2013-14 as they went one better at Cressing Road to remain top of the National League.

Macauley Bonne grabbed the headlines with a hat-trick but Edinburgh lavished praise on all his players.

“Sometimes records get forgotten about but this is one I will always remember,” said the manager.

“People will always talk about it, and if we can go on to do something then even better. We’re in a really good place right now.

“It’s a nice feeling, especially when it’s done in front of some many fantastic away fans. They were brilliant.

“I think this was a statement of intent. We knew Braintree had nothing to lose but this was a real banana skin, it was cup tie football in a lot of ways.

So to score five and break a record, it’s brilliant. We were very professional and the players were a credit to the club.”
