The managerless O’s are now 14 matches without a win and are still without a boss following the decision to part company with Steve Davis on November 14..
Stand in Ross Embleton has taken two points from a possible nine but the loss to Torquay on Saturday has prompted the club to update unhappy fans.
Orient, relegated from League Two last season, are now just one place above the National League drop zone.
In a statement, the club say they are dedicated to getting their next appointment right.
But they confirmed a new manager can be expected sooner rather than later.
It read: “14 games without a win is both unexpected and totally unacceptable.. The Board fully understands the corner needs to be turned, and turned very quickly.
“Martin Ling and the Board are working hard on identifying and hiring a Head Coach. We hope to announce an appointment soon.
“However, this is a very important appointment, and we will not substitute speed for good due diligence on the candidates.”
