But they have been given a big warning by minnows Haringey Borough: we’re going to try and run salt into the wounds!
Orient have been drawn against the Bostik North club in the FA Trophy first round next month.
It will arguably be the biggest game ever for Haringey and their manager Tom Loizou is keen to add to the strugglers’ pain by causing an almighty upset.
“I told my chairman that we’d get Orient in the next round, and I said the same to my players before we beat Thame United on Saturday,” the manager told the Bostik League’s Ian Townsend.
“But although I’m focused on winning the match, I’ve enormous affection for the club, and the supporters there.
“They should be in the Football League, and to see them in their current predicament is heartbreaking. That said, it’s my job to make matters worse for them, and I’m determined to do it.”
But can Borough really secure their best ever result on December 16?
“Of course we can,” Loizou said. “That’s not me being disrespectful, and I promise you that I haven’t taken leave of my senses!
Orient are set to appoint their new manager soon, three weeks after parting company with Steve Davis.
