On Top, Then Off - But Still's A Happy Man

Daggers went top of the table on Saturday with a thumping 5-1 win over Bromley when the team performed brilliantly.

But thanks to Sutton United getting back to winning ways yesterday, Still’s side’s 0-0 draw at Maidstone United wasn’t quite enough to stay there.

The manager is just happy his team are near the top and insisted the point at the Gallagher represented a very good afternoon’s work.

It was a return to his old club for Still who says he feels “proud” of what the Stones have achieved.

The Dagenham manager commented: “When all is said and done we think that’s a good point.

“They’re really good at home and we respect that. Don’t forget also that Maidstone have just come off the back of two very good wins against Wrexham and Sutton United.

“It’s not easy to come here and win and we had to put a shift in.”

It was an even better result when you consider the Daggers had ten men when Sam Ling was red carded with 18 minutes left to play.

“We showed we can battle and I’m very happy with that,” Still added.

“When we lost Sam we didn’t let them get in behind us. We performed well and all things considered I’m happy with that result.”
